Goals/Philosophy
The Alternate Program at Port Hardy Secondary is meant to provide an alternative educational program for students experiencing difficulty in coping with typical school structures. The program recognizes that students who are enrolled may have social, behavioral and/or emotional challenges. Additionally, they may also have had some academic difficulties. The program endeavors to assist, encourage and support students to take responsibility for their decisions and actions, to develop a positive self-concept and to experience academic success. The ultimate goal of the alternate behavior support program is to return students to the mainstream once their success is assured.
